The "Great Hall"
The "Great Hall" was a long time a home for courses and lectures.
Today, the Great Hall is chiefly used for academic ceremonies.
The "Studentenkarzer"
The so-called "Studentenkarzer" (or students' prison) is located at the back of the Old University in Heidelberg's Augustinergasse.
From 1778 until 1914, students were imprisoned here for so called "Kavaliersdelikte".
During these years, the university administration was embodied with an autonomous jurisdiction, but the students were allowed to attend parallel their lectures.
Deception through concealment is no "trivial offence".

From 11 March 2019 the responsibility in the Federal Republic of Germany (Germany), here in the german federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, was transferred to the CCIs.
Until then the public administrations were responsible. On city and state level (rural districts) this were the rural district administration offices and for the municipal districts (cities without districts and federal states) this were the public order offices.
